This project is an artistic exploration at the intersection of the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi and the technique of wet felting. The core concept lies in the idea of finding new value and beauty through the restoration of the broken as a metaphor for human experience and healing.
The visual language of the work is inspired by the natural palette and structure of rare minerals such as azurite, amethyst, turkenite, and apatite. Inclusions of garnet, jadeite, rose agate, carnelian, and tiger’s eye are recreated through transitions of wool shades to imitate natural geological layers. The combination of soft felted textures with symbolic kintsugi “seams” transforms the textile surface into a tangible image of a gemstone with its own unique history of fractures and mends.
