This project is a technical assignment for creating a double-layer jacquard fabric based on an archival pattern from the American company Montana. The work is centered on the method of simultaneously weaving two layers of cloth to achieve the necessary density and structural complexity.
The upcycling of an original 1980s dress from the aforementioned firm serves as the primary impulse for updating historical design through modern textile technologies. Reconstructing the pattern allows for the preservation of the brand’s aesthetic heritage while adapting it to new structural goals. The use of double-layer weaving provides the fabric with unique performance properties and depth of pattern within the framework of reimagining late-20th-century fashion.
